A little volume makes a big difference. This cropped black jacket has a broad brown
collar, two rows of dark buttons and a roomy shape that falls away from the body.
The lustrous, plush-looking surface catches the light across the sleeves and back,
giving the black more depth than a flat woven fabric.

The proportions are the point: a short body, generous sleeves and a collar wide
enough to frame the face. Loose jackets worn over narrow skirts were part of the
mid-century wardrobe; the [V&A’s collection](https://artsandculture.google.com/asset/skirt-suit-crist%C3%B3bal-balenciaga/fgGXqhnUrdJeXw?hl=en)
includes an example of that silhouette from 1950. Here, that contrast of volume
and a slimmer lower half offers an easy starting point for getting dressed.

### Fit & details

Listed size M, with a cropped, easy shape, bracelet-length sleeves, button front
and two horizontal pocket openings. Measurements are available as needed to confirm
the jacket’s fit. [Reach out or email us](https://shopquirkla.com/contact-us/) with

### How we’d wear it

Try it with a close-fitting knit and high-waisted cigarette trousers, leaving a
little wrist visible above a pair of gloves. For daytime, the white trousers and
green beret in the studio photos keep the dark jacket feeling fresh. Dark straight-
leg denim and a bright fine-gauge sweater would give it a less dressed-up turn.
A compact bag works especially well with the short hem and generous collar.

Listing is for the jacket only. Clothing and accessories shown with it are styling
pieces.
