Orange roses and turquoise foliage give this 1960s/70s Butterfield 8 caftan a bright,
generous sweep of pattern. Against the white ground, the flowers follow a long trapeze
silhouette that falls freely from the shoulders. The high turtleneck and long sleeves
make a neat frame for all that movement.

This is a hostess dress with plenty of life beyond the house. The lightweight acetate
and nylon blend keeps the floral print fluid, while the free waist and hips leave
the shape unbroken. From the front it reads as one long column of flowers; a turn
reveals the width through the back and the soft folds of the skirt. The zip closure
lets the neckline stay clean.

### Styling

The snakeskin-patterned boots in the photographs add a second pattern without interrupting
the length of the dress. For a lighter finish, try flat metallic sandals and small
gold earrings. A compact bag keeps the outline easy to read, while the tall collar
gives you room to skip a necklace and let the flowers do the work.
