Red, ivory and black wool tweed give this 1960s Celine Soria Couture skirt suit
its lively surface. Cream looped braid follows the jacket’s collar, front edges,
pocket flaps and cuffs, setting off the herringbone weave rather than disappearing
into it. Ornate gold-tone buttons add a small flash against the wool.

The jacket is shaped through the waist, with three-quarter sleeves and a skirt that
keeps a narrow line below it. Worn together, the two pieces make the most of that
contrast between a textured, decorated jacket and a simple skirt shape. The suit
is lined, giving the wool tweed a smooth layer underneath.

There is plenty to enjoy at close range: the braid tracing each edge, the buttons
against the red and ivory, and the way the jacket’s pocket flaps repeat its rounded
collar. Keep the layers beneath it quiet and those details do the work. The matching
pieces can also be worn separately, with the jacket over dark denim or the skirt
beneath a fine-gauge knit.

**Modern size:** US 2/4.

**About the model:** Ghazal is 5 ft 7 in and typically wears approximately a modern
high-fashion USA dress size 4/6 or a medium. Her bust is 34C, waist 27 in and hips
40 in.

### Condition

Excellent vintage condition, near mint. This piece is gently used and sold as-is
due to its age and rarity.

### Styling

For the office, pair the suit with a crisp white blouse and classic pumps. A turtleneck
and ankle boots give it another rhythm, keeping the neckline simple and the skirt’s
slim shape clear. Our photographs also show how a white blouse and substantial black
shoes can change the mood without competing with the tweed.
