Description

This Nolan Miller skirt suit pairs a soft blush-pink palette with the defined shoulders and decorative finish of 1980s evening tailoring. The three-piece set includes a long-sleeved jacket, a matching top and a straight skirt. Faux-pearl embellishment and satin detailing bring texture to the jacket’s front, while a band of pale beading frames the top’s neckline.

The Nolan Miller skirt suit: three coordinated pieces

The jacket has a shaped front and long sleeves, with curving decorative motifs running down either side of its opening. Underneath, the matching top has a straight neckline and a softer silhouette. The skirt falls around the knee on Jackie, creating a continuous line of pale pink when the full set is worn together.

  • 1980s Nolan Miller three-piece skirt suit
  • Blush-pink jacket, matching top and skirt included
  • Faux-pearl embellishment and satin detailing
  • Structured shoulders and long jacket sleeves
  • Straight skirt silhouette
  • Vintage size 12/14; estimated modern US 6/8
  • Boots and other styling accessories are not included

Sizing and the photographed fit

The vintage size is 12/14, with an estimated modern US 6/8 fit. Jackie is 5 ft 7 in and usually wears a modern US size 2. The suit is clipped at the back in these photographs, so its fitted appearance on her does not show the garment’s unaltered width.

For a three-piece set, compare the jacket and top bust measurements as well as the skirt waist and hips. Ask Quirk for measurements before ordering if you need help assessing the fit. Vintage size numbers do not translate uniformly between labels.

Styling and condition

Wear the full set with simple shoes for an evening event, or use the embellished jacket over plain separates. Our photographs show the complete outfit with the jacket worn normally and draped over Jackie’s shoulders. Both views help distinguish the individual pieces. For another way to wear the jacket, explore Quirk’s skirts and blouses.

This is previously owned vintage clothing. Review the photographs and request a current close-up if you need to inspect the trim, lining or closures. I finally walked in after walking by for years when I heard they were in need for volunteers for their donation drive. I'm ashamed I haven't found this store before. The owner is fantastic, she hopped out of a hospital bed and straight to setting up this push to help people. The store, as it's known, on the fourth floor feels like you are thriving with some of the most upbeat staff to aid you find everything you need for woman's clothing, toiletries, and undergarments. On the second is where you can find an almost equal amount of men's, rare to have this ratio in any department store. Kids all the way down to infants, with diapers, and toys. Here you can see volunteers going from room to room sorting through, sizing, and cleaning up donations to stock both floors. Snacks, water, non-perishable food, and a welcome environment has made this a far distinction from digging through a pile of T-shirts on a folding table. My time volunteering here has been exhausting in the best way, the tiredness that comes with knowing you've done good, that your work and presence are valued. I'll continue to be here everyday I can until Melynda gets tired of me saying, "Happy ___day!" We're still here!

An absolute gem of a boutique, with a constant stream of unique vintage pieces! I was able to get the perfect dress, pumps, handbag, and hat for a formal tea at very short notice. The store is easy to access in the second floor of a fashion design building. The owner is a talented costume designer with a wealth of experience from film and more. Whether you go in with a decade-specific goal in mind, or are just looking for a special treasure, you will surely find something magical!!!

Where shall I begin? My cuz and I went because we lost everything in the fire! Trent greeted us, Carmen helped me snd Allison my cuz. They treated us like Gold! We both felt very special! What a gem of a place! Everything I took home fit. The clothes were fabulous but Trent was so cool and cute, Carmen was so very helpful going out if her way for me and Allison helped my cousin hand pick his new wardrobe and not to mention she was gorgeous to boot! Thank you Quirk, Thanks for going above and beyond and for restoring my faith in humanity! Margo and Raul

I had a really good experience at Quirk. Its located in DTLA which is known to give you headaches with parking. Luckily there were several fairly priced garage options on the same block. The shop is located on the second floor of this cool, early 20th century style building. I love vintage buildings so I was hyped before I even stepped into Quirk. But once inside I was really digging the vibes. They have a really selection of vintage, modern clothes for women and men. With assistance of the curator, Melynda, I was able to grab a few items for an upcoming headshot session. I didn't have to break the bank as the items I purchased were from a $20 rack. I will def go again. I highly recommend checking it out.

Great vintage shop in Downtown! With all the new vintage stores popping up around LA these days, Quirk really stands out with having unique, high quality items that are personally curated by the owner, Melynda, who is also a professional stylist and costume designer. Most vintage shops these days are just filled with XXL 80s/90s shirts, and overpriced jeans. Quirk has one-of-a-kind items that have made me a return customer. Most recent purchases were a 1970s YSL handbag and kimono jacket that always get me compliments when I wear them out.

This is such a fabulous find! A true gem tucked away in DTLA!! I went looking for vintage men’s items to match a watch I was gifted, and Melynda helped me pick out the most beautiful suit. She’s amazing too - she has the most fun and quirky style, but also donates clothes to victims of the wildfires. She gave me a tour of “The People’s Free Boutique” and it’s laid out to make those who have lost everything feel like they are really shopping for high-end items rather than getting things for free. I will be back to support Quirk Vintage again!!
