A beautifully theatrical piece of 1950s millinery from Sam Ludwig, rendered in plush black silk velvet with a sweeping tonal net veil.
Rather than relying on a traditional solid crown, the hat is built around an open grosgrain framework covered with sculptural folds, loops, and angular sections of velvet. The resulting silhouette feels part bow, part abstract sculpture, framing the head while leaving the center of the crown open.
