Description
Four patch pockets and a row of silver-tone snaps give this orange DKNY jacket a practical streak. The color has other plans. It is bright enough to carry an outfit, with a pointed collar, shaped waist and neatly defined seams that keep the silhouette close and crisp.
DKNY launched in 1989 as Donna Karan’s younger, New York-minded label, bringing utility and sportswear into a wardrobe made for moving through the city. This vintage jacket, estimated to date to the 1990s, makes sense in that language: useful pocket details, straightforward fastenings and a tailored shape with plenty of attitude.
The smooth-looking surface lets the orange read as one strong block of color. Stitching around the pockets and along the body supplies the detail, rather than an added print. The seams continue through the back, and the cuff fastenings repeat the silver-tone hardware at the front.
Wear the color
Our blue-on-orange styling plays the two shades against each other. For a quieter version, try a navy knit and dark denim; for a sharper one, add an ivory column skirt and dark boots. A white tee and relaxed trousers will take it away from office-jacket territory altogether. Keep a small shoulder bag simple, or choose a patterned scarf that repeats just a trace of orange.
