Cobalt blue silk crushed velvet gives this 1960s halo cocktail hat its depth of color. The open ring sits around the crown, leaving the center uncovered, while a birdcage veil falls over the face. Small satin ribbon bows and flocked Swiss dots interrupt the fine net, adding detail without losing the clean outline of the halo.
The royal-blue palette and compact shape recall the polished millinery of the Camelot era and Jacqueline Kennedy’s approach to a finished outfit. This is a lighter kind of statement than a heavily decorated cocktail hat: the velvet’s changing surface, the spaces within the net and the placement of the bows give it character.
