Modern / Present day | Quirk Greco-Roman Swim Shorts

Classical faces, a burgundy ground and a decidedly modern swim short. Quirk’s original illustrated print on quick-drying stretch fabric, with a soft mesh liner, adjustable drawcord waist and pockets. Handmade to order in 2XS–6XL, including men’s extended sizes. Check the body-measurement chart below before choosing. Melynda Choothesa’s ballpoint portrait of Antinous supplies the museum-minded motif, while the elastic waist keeps the silhouette easy. Pair them with a loose white shirt after a swim, or let the matching collection turn the classical faces into a full look. The hat and other accessories are sold separately.

Description

The Greco-Roman swim shorts trade the usual tropical motif for a repeat of classical faces, drawn in loose black lines against white and burgundy. Quirk’s original print has enough presence to carry an outfit: add a plain shirt for a poolside lunch, or wear them with the matching Greco-Roman bucket hat.

Inspired by Antinous, Melynda Choothesa drew the original Greco-Roman bust in ballpoint pen. The loose linework is part of the print’s character, carried across Quirk’s clothing, accessories and home pieces.

Men’s swim shorts for the water and the rest of the day

Quick-drying, four-way stretch fabric and a soft mesh liner make these a practical choice for swimming, beach walks and casual wear. The elastic waist adjusts with a drawcord. Mesh pockets drain easily, and a small inside pocket gives you a place for little essentials when you’re out of the water.

  • Shell: 91% recycled polyester, 9% spandex; 174 g/m²
  • Water-repellent microfiber with four-way stretch
  • Soft polyester-stretch mesh lining designed to reduce chafing
  • Elastic waistband, adjustable drawcord and mesh pockets
  • Handmade to order in 2XS–6XL, including men’s extended sizes

Fit and size guide: 2XS–6XL

Choose by your body measurements rather than your usual jeans size. Measure around the narrowest part of your waist and the fullest part of your hips, keeping the tape level. If you fall between sizes, choose the larger size. The chart below lists body measurements, not the shorts laid flat.

Body measurements in inches and centimeters
Size Waist (in) Hips (in) Waist (cm) Hips (cm)
2XS 28⅜ 35⅜ 72 90
XS 29⅞ 37 76 94
S 31½ 38⅝ 80 98
M 33⅛ 40⅛ 84 102
L 36¼ 43¼ 92 110
XL 39⅜ 46½ 100 118
2XL 42½ 49⅝ 108 126
3XL 45⅝ 52¾ 116 134
4XL 48⅞ 55⅞ 124 142
5XL 52 59 132 150
6XL 55⅛ 62¼ 140 158

Care and ordering

Rinse thoroughly after swimming to remove salt or chlorine. Wash with similar colors and avoid wringing. The light areas of the print may become more transparent when wet.

Each pair is made for your order. Review the size chart before choosing and ask us about fit if you need help. Made-to-order pieces are final sale for change of mind, subject to applicable legal rights and our provisions for damaged or incorrect items. See our returns policy and shipping information. Accessories are sold separately.

More from the Greco-Roman collection

The same original artwork also appears on our Greco-Roman Bust Reversible Bucket Hat and Greco-Roman Zip Up Windbreaker. Each item is sold separately.

This store is about as good as it gets when it comes to second-hand, quality, and well known products. I can't speak as much on the women's section, but the men's had a very wide range of styles and brands. From amazing Ralph Lauren denim to classy vintage coats this place has the works. Not only is it a gem for its wares, but the owner of the place is just wonderful. She is nice and will help you find exactly what you're looking for, and maybe even something you didn't even know you needed. My pickups from my first time included a navy Air Force Peacoat, a cashmere v-neck sweater and a pair of that amazing Ralph Lauren denim that I mentioned. I would highly recommend this store to anyone if you are looking for higher end quality and rarity for a fair price. I know that I will definitely be making a return visit sometime soon.

I helped out the Free People's Boutique by Quirk by sorting racks and registering shoppers on a Saturday. It was a humbling experience. I was asked to pass on so much gratitude to Melynda and her team by every guest I had the pleasure to assist.

Quirk is WONDERFUL! Small but mighty, always new and exciting finds, plus the real deal when it comes to fashion and expression. Owned by a stylist/awesome fashionista, with a passion and drive that offers the best experience in vintage shopping. I got the most gorgeous silk blouse...and some shoes that fit me like Cinderella! If you live in Los Angeles, you know how hard it is to find awesome vintage at a reasonable price. From the fight over Dior at a thrift store, to the snobby and over priced 'bo-ho' Buffalo Exchange, to the trendy and overly pretentious places on Melrose-it's just another face in the crowd, on the scene. It's more comfortable and personable at Quirk. You get the deals, yeah-but the experience is worth more!

Quirk is the kind of place you walk into and immediately feel like you've inherited the wardrobe of a rich, eccentric aunt who traveled the world and kept all the best pieces. Every rack feels intentional, lived in, and full of personality. Nothing feels random. Each item has a story, and you can sense it the moment you start browsing. The bag selection alone is worth the stop. There are so many standout pieces that feel like true finds, not just resale. The kind of bags you don't see twice. What really makes this place special is the owner, Melynda. She's genuinely fun to talk to and clearly passionate about what she curates. You can tell there's pride and care behind every piece in the shop. Talking with her about vintage fashion and the stories behind the items made the experience feel personal, not transactional. This ended up being one of the coolest spots I stumbled into in the fashion district. If you appreciate vintage that feels curated and soulful rather than picked over, Quirk is a must.

This is such a fabulous find! A true gem tucked away in DTLA!! I went looking for vintage men’s items to match a watch I was gifted, and Melynda helped me pick out the most beautiful suit. She’s amazing too - she has the most fun and quirky style, but also donates clothes to victims of the wildfires. She gave me a tour of “The People’s Free Boutique” and it’s laid out to make those who have lost everything feel like they are really shopping for high-end items rather than getting things for free. I will be back to support Quirk Vintage again!!
