Modern / Present day | Quirk Interstellar Opera Gloves

A celestial print with an opera-length silhouette. Interstellar pairs planets and stars with soft crushed velvet that stretches along the hand and arm. Style these Quirk Originals gloves with a sleeveless dress or a plain tee; the print supplies the drama.

Actual satellite imagery supplies the design, with multicolour planets against black. The velvet pile catches light along the extended cuffs, bringing texture to the celestial pattern.

Description

Interstellar opera gloves bring actual satellite imagery to soft crushed velvet, with planets and stars set against black. The long silhouette brings the pattern above the elbow, where the pile catches the light as you move. Wear the pair with a simple sleeveless dress, or take a cue from our shoot and add them to a black T-shirt.

Planet print opera gloves in crushed velvet

The stretch fabric follows the hand and arm without the stiff structure of a formal leather glove. Each glove can be worn on either hand. Handmade to order, this Quirk Originals design brings the same celestial print as the Interstellar sweatshirt into a more theatrical accessory.

  • Black ground with a multicolour planet print
  • Soft crushed velour with stretch
  • Over-the-elbow length: approximately 16 inches (40.6 cm) from wrist to upper hem
  • Available in Small, Medium and Large
  • Sold as a pair; handmade to order

Finding your glove size

Measure around your knuckles, then from the tip of your middle finger to the base of your hand. Compare both measurements with the chart below. To judge where the upper edge will sit, measure 16 inches (40.6 cm) up your arm from the wrist; its position will vary with your proportions.

Hand measurements in inches and centimeters
Size Around knuckles Middle fingertip to base of hand
Small 6–7 in / 16–17.8 cm 6–6.7 in / 16–17 cm
Medium 7.1–8 in / 17.9–20.3 cm 6.8–7 in / 17.1–18 cm
Large 8.1–8.5 in / 20.4–21.6 cm 7.1–7.5 in / 18.1–19 cm

If your measurements suggest different sizes, ask us for help with glove sizing before ordering.

This store is about as good as it gets when it comes to second-hand, quality, and well known products. I can't speak as much on the women's section, but the men's had a very wide range of styles and brands. From amazing Ralph Lauren denim to classy vintage coats this place has the works. Not only is it a gem for its wares, but the owner of the place is just wonderful. She is nice and will help you find exactly what you're looking for, and maybe even something you didn't even know you needed. My pickups from my first time included a navy Air Force Peacoat, a cashmere v-neck sweater and a pair of that amazing Ralph Lauren denim that I mentioned. I would highly recommend this store to anyone if you are looking for higher end quality and rarity for a fair price. I know that I will definitely be making a return visit sometime soon.

I helped out the Free People's Boutique by Quirk by sorting racks and registering shoppers on a Saturday. It was a humbling experience. I was asked to pass on so much gratitude to Melynda and her team by every guest I had the pleasure to assist.

Quirk is WONDERFUL! Small but mighty, always new and exciting finds, plus the real deal when it comes to fashion and expression. Owned by a stylist/awesome fashionista, with a passion and drive that offers the best experience in vintage shopping. I got the most gorgeous silk blouse...and some shoes that fit me like Cinderella! If you live in Los Angeles, you know how hard it is to find awesome vintage at a reasonable price. From the fight over Dior at a thrift store, to the snobby and over priced 'bo-ho' Buffalo Exchange, to the trendy and overly pretentious places on Melrose-it's just another face in the crowd, on the scene. It's more comfortable and personable at Quirk. You get the deals, yeah-but the experience is worth more!

Quirk is the kind of place you walk into and immediately feel like you've inherited the wardrobe of a rich, eccentric aunt who traveled the world and kept all the best pieces. Every rack feels intentional, lived in, and full of personality. Nothing feels random. Each item has a story, and you can sense it the moment you start browsing. The bag selection alone is worth the stop. There are so many standout pieces that feel like true finds, not just resale. The kind of bags you don't see twice. What really makes this place special is the owner, Melynda. She's genuinely fun to talk to and clearly passionate about what she curates. You can tell there's pride and care behind every piece in the shop. Talking with her about vintage fashion and the stories behind the items made the experience feel personal, not transactional. This ended up being one of the coolest spots I stumbled into in the fashion district. If you appreciate vintage that feels curated and soulful rather than picked over, Quirk is a must.

This is such a fabulous find! A true gem tucked away in DTLA!! I went looking for vintage men’s items to match a watch I was gifted, and Melynda helped me pick out the most beautiful suit. She’s amazing too - she has the most fun and quirky style, but also donates clothes to victims of the wildfires. She gave me a tour of “The People’s Free Boutique” and it’s laid out to make those who have lost everything feel like they are really shopping for high-end items rather than getting things for free. I will be back to support Quirk Vintage again!!
