Art history can leave the frame. The Primavera Crushed Velvet Trousers bring Botticelli-inspired figures to a charcoal ground, with cream and muted red details running down each leg. The crushed velour catches the light as you move, giving the print a little drama of its own.
Botticelli’s Primavera, or Spring, brings figures from classical mythology into a flowering grove. Here, that Renaissance reference becomes a repeating pattern on contemporary trousers. The contrast is part of the pleasure: elaborate drapery in the artwork, an easy wide-leg shape on the wearer.
A wide leg and elasticated waistband keep the shape relaxed, with a drawstring and lined pockets for everyday use. Try them with a plain tank and a sharp black jacket, or pick up the red in the artwork with a fine knit. There is plenty happening in the trousers, so a familiar piece from your own wardrobe is a good place to start.
