Modern / Present day | Quirk Spun Thai Silk Print Recycled Athletic Shorts

Colorful skeins of silk yarn, printed across relaxed athletic shorts. The Spun Thai Silk Print pairs a vivid palette with recycled stretch fabric, mesh pockets and an adjustable drawstring waist. A short 2½-inch inseam keeps the silhouette light. Handmade to order in S–XL, with a unisex fit; use the body measurements below to choose your size.

Let the print take the place of a pattern mix: a plain white tee brings out the pale blue threads, while a pink or violet tank picks up the deeper skeins. Mesh pockets and the drawstring make this an easy piece to pull on beyond the pool.

Description

Spun Thai Silk Print athletic shorts put a close-up of colorful yarn on a spare, sporty silhouette. Turquoise and violet skeins sit beside yellow, pink and pale blue, with loose threads and twists visible across the print. The short, straight shape keeps the focus on that tangle of color.

Color with room to move

The relaxed unisex cut combines a short leg with four-way stretch. An elastic waist and flat white drawstring let you adjust the fit, while mesh side pockets give the shorts a practical finish. Wear them with a plain tank and sneakers, or pull them on over swimwear for the walk home. The fabric is lightweight and fast-drying, so they work well for movement and warm days.

Fabric and details

  • 91% recycled polyester and 9% spandex
  • Four-way stretch microfiber with a smooth surface
  • Elastic waistband with an adjustable flat white drawstring
  • Mesh side pockets
  • Approximately 2½-inch / 6.5 cm inseam
  • Handmade to order in S, M, L and XL

The silk in the name refers to the yarn pictured in the print. The shorts themselves are made from recycled stretch fabric, not silk.

Ten out of five stars for Melynda and her all volunteer Quirk crew for creating the People's Free Boutique in an unused corner space in DTLA, providing much needed, intentional, and high quality clothing and supplies for those of us who lost everything in LA's January fires. My family and I came to Quirk and were welcomed with care and respect, mirroring the quality and thoughtfulness of the clothing offered, and being given the dignity of choice to dress ourselves in clothing that we prefer. The Quirk crew were professional and kind, dealing with a gradually melting down child and frazzled adults, recognizing and validating the collective trauma of their guests, and providing a space of hope, solace, and care out of the goodness of their hearts. I was able to restock much of my professional and casual wardrobe, grab some high quality toiletries, kids clothing, and an epic penny board for my kid. I cannot recommend a visit to the People's Free Boutique and Melynda's Quirk store on 9th enough!

I highly recommend supporting this local business. The owner Melynda has been so generous in helping out fire victims by creating a pop up free clothing boutique, and volunteering her time there. She definitely has a strong eye for fashion and a heart of gold, so I recommend stopping by and supporting her shop!

I worked with Melynda on a professional photoshoot for my company and ever since then I have been going to her store. Such a great way to change up my style and find new unique items. I am a proud owner of a vintage Italian suit and have even rented a gown for a special event. Always looking for her insight when shopping there.

What can I say. I love Quirk. The owner has a great eye for fashion and use of color. Here you'll find oldie but goodies when it comes to apparel - so whether it's breakfast at Tiffanies, reliving Studio 54 or cute photo shoots - Quirk is gonna dress you up with their love.

Quirk for Fire Vicitms has been such a special place for me. I have found wonderful clothes to get myself started after losing my home in Pacific Palisades. The boutique is clean, organized and the volunteers are so kind and helpful. Melinda who runs has become my friend and I have run into other friends who lost their homes and met many new ones. 5 stars plus another 5 stars

I volunteered at Quirk all afternoon today, and there is so much love and support alive in that space. They are overwhelmed with so many incredible donations and every single thing is being sorted and placed directly into the free shop where fire victims can come shop and get what they need. All items are the same quality you would find in a thrift store like Buffalo Exchange. There were volunteers helping people find clothing items that fit and served their needs while they’re grappling with the loss of their homes and belongings. There are so many ways fire victims need support and this is one of them! Thank you Quirk and the other amazing organization and businesses stepping up to help our community!

After I lost my home in the Eaton Fire, I desperately needed clothes to wear to the office. I was thrilled to find some beautiful pieces at the People's Free Boutique by Quirk. Everything was clean, well sorted, in good condition, and I even found some pieces that still had tags on them! I am so grateful for those who donated the clothing, and the very kind and caring volunteers! Thank you!

QUIRK is the absolute best. I've come several times since 2020 and they never miss. Melynda is a top-tier curator. All her pieces feel hand-picked with thought, care, and a keen eye for taste and style. It's easy to find a great deal here: I've found a vintage Dior wallet at QUIRK, as well as multiple outfits for red carpets, premieres, photoshoots, and day-to-day wear. She keeps prices super fair and reasonable while knowing her stuff when it comes to true vintage, designer, and quality. I always know I'm getting my money's worth. As someone who loves vintage shopping, thrifting, and flea/artist/vintage markets, I'm always looking for vendors and stores, and QUIRK is one of those special places where you can tell vintage is a real passion, not just a place to make a quick buck on a Tiktok trend (though you can definitely find super trendy pieces here too!). At QUIRK, I'd say clothes are treated like found treasure looking for their forever home! I come back again and again because the pieces are fun and always changing. As a store owner, Melynda is friendly, knowledgable, and is great at offering styling advice for each customer's unique taste. She keeps such a positive shopping atmosphere in the store—I'll always keep returning! Love love love it!
