Description
VERYRARE Hell Judgement Day jacquard cargo pants turn a densely illustrated scene into a full-length statement. Designed by Raf Reyes, the trousers combine a dark woven surface, a relaxed leg and oversized VERY RARE lettering across the back. Rust, cream and muted blue details break up the black ground, giving the figures definition without flattening the texture into a simple print.
The art behind the design
The skeletal figure and crowded underworld imagery draw on the lower section of Jan van Eyck’s The Last Judgment, paired with The Crucifixion in The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s collection. The museum dates the paintings to about 1436–38. Here, the historic imagery is rearranged across a contemporary garment; the painting credit belongs to van Eyck, while the clothing design is by Raf Reyes for VERYRARE. See the museum’s artwork record.
Construction and details
An elasticated waist and black drawstring sit above the loose leg. The original close-ups show a textured jacquard weave, a cargo pocket with a dark zip and ring-shaped pull, and gathered ankle cuffs. A black Raf Reyes designer patch near the cuff adds another graphic element. Across the seat, tall cream lettering sits above the outstretched skeleton motif. The arrangement gives the back as much presence as the front.
How to wear them
Let the artwork lead with a plain black crewneck tee tucked lightly at the waist and black leather boots beneath the gathered cuffs. A short charcoal jacket keeps the proportions compact above the fuller trousers. For a softer daytime combination, choose an ivory knit polo and simple dark sneakers; the pale top picks up the cream in the weave without repeating the pattern. A restrained rust or burgundy accessory can echo the warmer details for an evening outfit.
Size, fabric and care
The recorded size is Medium. Exact waist, rise and inseam measurements have not been recorded, so the label size should not be treated as a measured fit range. The jacquard construction is visible in the photographs; fiber percentages and cleaning instructions still need confirmation from the garment label. Contact Quirk for a fit check and follow the label before choosing a cleaning method.
