Description

A beautifully sculptural 1960s halo cocktail hat in an exceptionally rich cobalt blue silk crushed velvet. The open halo construction wraps gracefully around the crown while a delicate birdcage veil softly frames the face with flocked Swiss-dot detailing and charming satin ribbon bows positioned around the perimeter.

The saturated jewel-tone blue immediately evokes the refined elegance of Camelot-era fashion and the polished sophistication associated with Jacqueline Kennedy’s iconic millinery. Unlike heavily embellished cocktail hats, this piece relies on impeccable proportions, luxurious fabric, and restrained detailing to create a quietly dramatic statement.

Its lightweight halo construction makes it ideal for weddings, cocktail attire, church, Derby events, vintage bridal styling, editorial photography, theatrical wardrobe, or collectors seeking authentic mid-century American millinery.

The interior retains its Union Made label but carries no maker’s label.

I highly recommend supporting this local business. The owner Melynda has been so generous in helping out fire victims by creating a pop up free clothing boutique, and volunteering her time there. She definitely has a strong eye for fashion and a heart of gold, so I recommend stopping by and supporting her shop!

I appreciate what Quirk is doing and helping restoring the lives of those affected by the fires!!! It's always a humbling experience to give back to the community and receive services. Melinda (even tho' I'm so spelling her name wrong lol sorry) is always a cup of joy and so supportive. You are such a gem along with your team. I look forward to watching the free peoples boutique grow along with quirk. Thank you once again and words can never describe what an impact you have shown towards myself, family, friends and community.

Ten out of five stars for Melynda and her all volunteer Quirk crew for creating the People's Free Boutique in an unused corner space in DTLA, providing much needed, intentional, and high quality clothing and supplies for those of us who lost everything in LA's January fires. My family and I came to Quirk and were welcomed with care and respect, mirroring the quality and thoughtfulness of the clothing offered, and being given the dignity of choice to dress ourselves in clothing that we prefer. The Quirk crew were professional and kind, dealing with a gradually melting down child and frazzled adults, recognizing and validating the collective trauma of their guests, and providing a space of hope, solace, and care out of the goodness of their hearts. I was able to restock much of my professional and casual wardrobe, grab some high quality toiletries, kids clothing, and an epic penny board for my kid. I cannot recommend a visit to the People's Free Boutique and Melynda's Quirk store on 9th enough!

Melinda who started and runs Quirk the people free boutique is so amazing upbeat and selfless to continue to help all of us that lost our homes. Quirk has been a loving space for me to get help to start over again and a big part of my healing journey I have visited a couple of times and found wonderful clothes to help me get back to work and visit my son at college. It is organized, clean and has great donations. I am forever grateful and count Melinda as a new friend. I also met many other fire victims and ran into old friends. Had been a wonderful place for me as I begin my healing journey. 5 stars plus another 5 stars.

Greatest vintage shop in LA! I always find the best vintage designer pieces here as well as original pieces made by the owner herself.

Quirk is WONDERFUL! Small but mighty, always new and exciting finds, plus the real deal when it comes to fashion and expression. Owned by a stylist/awesome fashionista, with a passion and drive that offers the best experience in vintage shopping. I got the most gorgeous silk blouse...and some shoes that fit me like Cinderella! If you live in Los Angeles, you know how hard it is to find awesome vintage at a reasonable price. From the fight over Dior at a thrift store, to the snobby and over priced 'bo-ho' Buffalo Exchange, to the trendy and overly pretentious places on Melrose-it's just another face in the crowd, on the scene. It's more comfortable and personable at Quirk. You get the deals, yeah-but the experience is worth more!
