Description
Brand: Koret
Metallic brocade gives this late 1950s/early 1960s Koret clutch its texture and quiet glint. The cream and gold-toned geometric weave covers a rectangular silhouette, with two round metal details and a pointed tab distinguishing the front. It is an evening bag with enough visual interest to hold its own against a plain dress, yet the pale palette also works beautifully with the saturated red of the photographed look.
Inside, the cream satin lining and original attached coin purse bring the same attention to the less visible parts of the design. That built-in purse is a particularly lovely mid-century detail: a small piece of organization incorporated into the bag itself, rather than an afterthought. The contrast between the textured brocade outside and smooth satin within is central to its character.
Founded in the 1920s, Koret prospered through the 1950s and 60s. This clutch belongs to that period of considered accessories, when a handbag could complete the line and mood of an outfit. Its material, interior finish and attached coin purse preserve that design approach in an original vintage piece.
