Description
A high collar changes the whole mood of a jacket. On this pale Armani wool blazer, it draws the eye upward while five matching buttons carry a clean line down the front. The waist curves gently inward, the hem ends at the hip and slim welt pockets sit quietly on either side. There is very little ornament to distract from the cut.
Founded in Milan in 1975, Giorgio Armani helped loosen the conventions of tailoring, making ease and proportion central to the brand’s identity. This vintage blazer, estimated to date to the 1990s, offers a more fitted silhouette. Its stand collar leaves the front free of lapels, so the shaped seams and pale wool become the focus. The fabric’s subtle surface texture rewards a closer look without competing with the outline.
A little contrast
We styled it over fitted blue layers, letting the color show at the neck and below the hem. That is a useful idea to borrow: a pale jacket does not need an all-neutral outfit. A plum camisole and wide charcoal trousers would bring a different balance, particularly with the jacket worn open. For evening, try a dark bias-cut skirt and a small satin bag; leave the neckline clear and add earrings instead of a necklace.
For daytime, a striped top and cropped trousers would make similar tailoring feel less formal. The shorter jacket length leaves room for volume in the trouser leg, while a pointed flat keeps the proportions sharp.
