A red jacket with a little club-blazer swagger. This SURPRISE! Los Angeles piece pairs a broad shawl collar with a gold-tone embroidered crest on the chest pocket. The strong shoulder line and longer cut give it presence, while the rounded front edges keep the shape from feeling severe.
The wool has a softly brushed-looking surface that lets the color do most of the work. Look closer at the crest and you’ll see the crossed motif and hanging tassel shapes; the patterned metal-tone buttons add another small point of interest. Two lower pockets make it a useful layer, too. It has the polish of a blazer with enough room in the silhouette to wear over a slim knit.
Listed size M/L. The blue knit underneath it in the photographs makes a particularly good color pairing. For a different mood, try a cream roll-neck and charcoal trousers, or a striped shirt with dark denim and loafers. The shawl collar also works over a simple slip dress for evening. Keep necklaces close to the neck so the long line of the collar remains visible.
