The Joshua Tree Bowler Shirt puts a desert landscape in the foreground: pink sky, warm orange earth and a pale green Joshua tree across the front. Designed by Melynda Choothesa, the print brings a broad stretch of color to a boxy, open-collar shirt. The tree breaks up the horizon, giving the image a focal point even when you wear it partly open.
Short sleeves and a straight, easy shape give it a retro sportswear feel. The fabric is 95% polyester and 5% spandex with four-way stretch, so there is give in the garment as well as room in the cut. This is a modern, made-to-order piece.
Dark trousers and loafers let the pink and orange stand out. For something lighter, try cream trousers or pale denim, with a white tee underneath and the shirt left open. The green in the tree is a useful color to borrow for a sock, bag or other small detail.
