Description

A beautifully unusual pair of Italian-made vintage pumps in luminous purple leather.

From the front, the silhouette is sleek and deceptively simple, with a low-cut vamp, softly elongated pointed toe, and smooth leather carrying a pearlescent metallic finish. The drama appears along the sides and back.

Black reptile-embossed panels sweep upward from the arch, meeting angular sections of smooth black leather, violet leather, and plum suede. The heel counter rises into a sculpted suede tab finished with a silver-toned textured diamond inset, creating an architectural profile that feels almost like a stylized collar.

High cone heels continue the purple leather treatment, forming a strong line from the back of the shoe toward the narrow heel tips. Black leather interiors and warm-toned leather soles provide contrast beneath the saturated upper.

The soles are marked Vero Cuoio, Leather Upper, Leather Sole, Made in Italy, and European size 40. The original maker labels are no longer present inside the shoes.

Wear them with black tailoring, a narrow leather skirt, dark denim, a bias-cut dress, or a tonal mix of plum, violet, oxblood, and deep brown. They work equally well as an evening shoe or as the surreal detail in an otherwise minimal outfit.

Fit Notes

Marked European size 40 and estimated to best fit a modern women’s US 9/9.5, particularly a narrow-to-average foot.

The pointed toe extends beyond the natural toe line, so its visible length should not be interpreted as fully usable interior space. The body of the shoe appears streamlined through the forefoot and vamp.

International shoe-size charts vary by brand and last. For the strongest fit comparison, check the interior footbed length and widest outsole measurement against a similarly shaped pump already in your wardrobe.

Condition

Good Vintage Condition.

The purple leather retains its luminous finish, and the shoes preserve their distinctive sculptural shape. Visible wear includes creasing, surface rubbing, cloudy tonal variation, small marks, and finish loss across the toes, vamps, sides, and heels.

The mixed rear panels remain visually striking. The plum suede sections show nap variation, rubbing, creasing, and edge wear. The black smooth and reptile-embossed leather sections show light abrasion, while both silver-toned textured diamond insets remain present.

The original maker labels have been removed or lost, leaving rectangular adhesive residue and label remnants inside both shoes. The black leather interiors show creasing, rubbing, and signs of previous use.

The leather soles have substantial abrasion and darkening through the forefeet. The purple-wrapped heels show scuffing and finish wear, and both heel tips show previous use.

No major upper tears or obvious sole separation are visible in the photos. Please review all images closely, particularly the toes, decorative rear panels, interiors, outsoles, heel wrapping, and heel tips.

Styling Notes

Pair these with a black trouser suit, narrow midi skirt, dark denim, or a minimal column dress. The purple works beautifully with oxblood, charcoal, chocolate, metallic silver, cobalt, and deep green.

For a more maximal approach, echo the geometric rear construction with angular jewelry, paneled leather, or a sharply tailored jacket.

Curation Note

Each Quirk piece is hand selected by our team for quality, construction, styling potential, and point of view.

Origin and Attribution Note

The leather soles are stamped Vero Cuoio, Leather Upper, Leather Sole, and Made in Italy. The original maker labels are no longer present, so the shoes are offered without a designer attribution.

I love this boutique! It's clear the owner Melynda has thoughtfully hand-picked and carefully curated an amazing collection of designer vintage and secondhand pieces. She has a fantastic selection of designer shoes and purses, and everything is in A+ condition or is like new! Melynda herself is super personable and always happy to help you find befitting pieces. There's also a superb selection of men's clothes and she has her own original designs for sale as well! So far I've bought two pairs of velvet gloves from her in-house label and I LOVE them! I get tons of compliments whenever I wear them. The designs are so unique, and the quality and construction are top notch. She's even making me a custom pair of pants using the same fabric as the gloves so I can have a matching set to wear to the Dreamstate Festival later this year! Plus there's a $20 sale rack with incredible finds. I highly recommend Quirk if you're looking for unique pieces that are in great condition and well priced, and super customer service 🤗

5 stars for what they are doing for the community but not for my personal experience. They were listed on the wildfire Google sheet / website as one of the few places still accepting donations, so I brought all my unworn clothes over. The address on the website and online is not the correct one, so had to get back in my car and find new parking closer to the new location. Then I get inside and they said donations are by appointment only. 30 minute drive and a lot of parking hassle with nothing to show for it. Would be nice if they updated their donation status and location on the Google sheet. Annoying for me but glad they are helping those in need. The new location is in the photo.

My friends and I had a very pleasant and wonderful visit at Quirk. I got these beautiful snake skin shoes with a vintage neck scarf which i also fall in love with. I got compliments from people every time i wear them. I wanted to buy everything when I was there. There are jewelry, scarfs , shoes, dresses and the HATS. The price is very affordable so I was a happy shopper. The next best thing ( or the best ) about Quirk is the shop owner, Melynda. She is friendly and extremely helpful in helping you putting your dream outfits together and giving you advices when you needed them. She makes my shopping experience fun and comfortable. The shop is beautiful. I love the warmth and the openness of the shop. It stands out in the middle of the busy downtown LA streets. I will definitely come back and visit again when I come back to LA.

I have joyfully followed Melynda and Quirk grow over the past year. Every time I get a little extra money I pop in to get a nice something-or-another for myself and leave with much more; life stories, fashion advice, and sometimes coffee. Each time I leave Quirk I look and feel a little smarter. Keep up the excellent work. -DC

I worked with Melynda on a professional photoshoot for my company and ever since then I have been going to her store. Such a great way to change up my style and find new unique items. I am a proud owner of a vintage Italian suit and have even rented a gown for a special event. Always looking for her insight when shopping there.

This is such a fabulous find! A true gem tucked away in DTLA!! I went looking for vintage men’s items to match a watch I was gifted, and Melynda helped me pick out the most beautiful suit. She’s amazing too - she has the most fun and quirky style, but also donates clothes to victims of the wildfires. She gave me a tour of “The People’s Free Boutique” and it’s laid out to make those who have lost everything feel like they are really shopping for high-end items rather than getting things for free. I will be back to support Quirk Vintage again!!

Favorite place to shop. Melynda always has the best treasures and she does custom designs. I bought a vintage dress from her to wear to a Gucci event, and I got soooo many compliments! Go now. This is definitely a must shop place in DTLA .

My experience with Quirk was online. I was in some need of something white to wear that catches the eye, and found something that suited my taste in a few minutes. I had a fun time browsing the site, looking at the selection that was offered, it was fun to see so many bright colors, which is why it was a pleasent surprise for me to find something I felt more comfortable with. I made my purchase online after seeing how the sizes were measured (which was more detailed than most other sites), and felt confident making my choice. After about 10 days it arrived, and it was exactly how I saw it on the site. I really liked the lenght and the feel of it, and it fit me great, I would recommend Quirk for anyone who wants to step up their outfit game.

Bright and open! Music playlist on point. Fun clothing selections and a $20 sale rack! Bought a designer Italian men’s blazer for $20. Melynda knows how to take good care of her customers.
