Description
A long, clean line gives this Evan Picone silk blazer its poise; the irregular black-on-cream spots supply the mischief. A single dark button draws the front together, with a low opening, flap pockets and a hem that extends past the hips. The print covers the jacket without disguising its shape.
Evan-Picone’s roots are in American women’s sportswear. Co-founder Charles Evans brought menswear ideas into women’s dressing, including a front zipper on a skirt. That practical approach to separates is useful context for this later blazer, estimated to date to the 1990s: tailoring you can work into a wardrobe, rather than an outfit that needs to stay together as a suit.
Here, the silk and spotted pattern bring a softer mood to the long jacket shape. Black and cream make a surprisingly accommodating base for color. Our fitted blue styling shows one way to do it, with an uninterrupted line underneath and the jacket fastened at the waist.
Make it your own
Wear it over a black camisole and ivory pleated trousers, with loafers for daytime or a pointed heel after dark. A narrow black dress lets the longer jacket hem frame the outfit. If you want more color, try raspberry trousers and a simple black top, keeping the rest of the outfit free of competing small prints. A compact bag and a pair of earrings are enough to finish it.
