1970s Robin’s Egg Blue Prairie Dress with Countryside Print | Modern size: US 0–2/XS

Pastoral scenes and robin’s egg blue give this 1970s prairie dress a gentle, playful character. A lightweight nylon/poly blend carries the countryside print through the three-quarter sleeves and tiered midi skirt, while lace traces the yoke, neckline and cuffs. Solid blue panels keep the front clear and graphic; a matching tie defines the waist at the back. In Excellent vintage condition, it has the recorded modern US 0–2/XS fit. Wear it with sandals and a fedora for a country-minded afternoon, or ankle boots and a small bag for a more urban take on cottagecore.

Description

Little countryside scenes bring a storybook quality to this 1970s prairie dress. Robin’s egg blue panels run through the front, framed by a softly colored landscape print across the shoulders, three-quarter sleeves and skirt. Delicate lace outlines the yoke and finishes the neckline and cuffs, giving the pastoral imagery a little extra definition.

The lightweight nylon/poly blend falls into a midi-length skirt with a gathered lower tier. A matching waist tie fastens at the back, where the countryside print continues across the bodice and skirt. The zip closure keeps the line simple. It is a lovely example of the prairie silhouette behind today’s cottagecore styling, with enough print and trim to carry an outfit without much else.

Modern size: US 0–2/XS.

About the model: Asha is 5ft 8in and a modern USA size 0/2.

Styling

Keep the original countryside mood with sandals and a fedora for a picnic, garden walk or leisurely brunch. For a city version, try ankle boots and a small bag, as shown. The robin’s egg blue and soft landscape colors make an easy starting point for the rest of the look.

Quirk is WONDERFUL! Small but mighty, always new and exciting finds, plus the real deal when it comes to fashion and expression. Owned by a stylist/awesome fashionista, with a passion and drive that offers the best experience in vintage shopping. I got the most gorgeous silk blouse...and some shoes that fit me like Cinderella! If you live in Los Angeles, you know how hard it is to find awesome vintage at a reasonable price. From the fight over Dior at a thrift store, to the snobby and over priced 'bo-ho' Buffalo Exchange, to the trendy and overly pretentious places on Melrose-it's just another face in the crowd, on the scene. It's more comfortable and personable at Quirk. You get the deals, yeah-but the experience is worth more!

I finally walked in after walking by for years when I heard they were in need for volunteers for their donation drive. I'm ashamed I haven't found this store before. The owner is fantastic, she hopped out of a hospital bed and straight to setting up this push to help people. The store, as it's known, on the fourth floor feels like you are thriving with some of the most upbeat staff to aid you find everything you need for woman's clothing, toiletries, and undergarments. On the second is where you can find an almost equal amount of men's, rare to have this ratio in any department store. Kids all the way down to infants, with diapers, and toys. Here you can see volunteers going from room to room sorting through, sizing, and cleaning up donations to stock both floors. Snacks, water, non-perishable food, and a welcome environment has made this a far distinction from digging through a pile of T-shirts on a folding table. My time volunteering here has been exhausting in the best way, the tiredness that comes with knowing you've done good, that your work and presence are valued. I'll continue to be here everyday I can until Melynda gets tired of me saying, "Happy ___day!" We're still here!

Did I jus say,"affordable?" I did NOT know that word still eXisted in fashion these daze, haha !! NO joke, she will sincerely work with ya on pricing. She's a doll, & she's knowledgeable about fashion. I UNeXpectedly "popped-in" & I found the most amazing "rock-starr" coat eva !! I wish this mini-vintage boutique much success.
