The people behind the pieces · Los Angeles
Two perspectives. A combined 40 years of expertise. A shared belief that what you have deserves a thoughtful next chapter.
A household holds more than inventory. There are the pieces everyone recognizes, the things nobody quite knows what to do with, and the unexpected finds that reward a closer look. Our collaboration brings estate-sale experience together with design, vintage-fashion and merchandising knowledge to help make sense of it all.

Cockatoo Estates · Estates, interiors & set design
An eye for a room—and the stories of the things inside it.
Bridget’s appreciation for old houses and distinctive objects began at home, watching her parents restore a historic Victorian. That early education in character and craftsmanship became a career spanning real estate, staging, interiors and luxury estate sales.
In the early 2000s, she built her real-estate practice around staging and design, and restored a 1920s Tudor along the way. Later, work in the airline industry took her around the world, deepening her interest in art, architecture and the way people live with beautiful things.
She brings longstanding estate-sale experience, including work with established companies across Los Angeles and the surrounding area, alongside interior design and production design for sets. Her work with Cockatoo Club extends into commercial set design and a world of vintage furniture, lighting and decorative objects.
Within our collaboration, Bridget brings that whole-house perspective to the contents, the presentation and the practical work of planning an estate sale.

Quirk · Vintage fashion, collections & creative direction
A fashion editor’s curiosity. A costume designer’s attention to detail.
Melynda founded Quirk in 2016, bringing her experience in fashion, styling and visual storytelling to a vintage and lifestyle boutique rooted in Los Angeles. For her, a wardrobe is more than a group of garments: it can reveal a period, a point of view and a life lived with personal style.
Her background includes serving as Senior Fashion Editor of Desnudo Italia and earning a Clio Award for costume design. Through Couture Zen, she works across fashion styling, costume design and art direction for editorial, commercial, film, television and music-video projects.
That creative experience informs a practical approach to estates: noticing the labels, construction, condition and context that can make a piece worth further research, then considering how it should be presented and who may appreciate it.
Melynda brings vintage-fashion, business and merchandising expertise to the collaboration. For wardrobes and specialty collections, she also reviews inquiries about dating, pricing research, provenance and authentication, with the scope of any specialist engagement agreed after an initial review.
For families, executors and trustees considering an estate sale. Start with the location, the main kinds of belongings and your timing.
For probate attorneys, fiduciaries, real-estate agents and estate companies coordinating a property or collection.
For shoppers, dealers and stylists. Choose sale alerts by area and interest, and tell us what you love to source.
We begin with the property, the people making decisions and the timing. A full estate sale is one possibility; a smaller collection may benefit from a focused consultation or a different selling route. We will discuss fit before agreeing to an engagement.
Before work begins, the agreed scope identifies what is included, what is being retained, who can authorize decisions and how communication and reporting will work. The estate-sale agreement is with The Cockatoo Club LLC d/b/a Cockatoo Estates and sets out the collaboration’s scope and responsibilities. Separate specialist consulting is a different engagement.
No complete inventory is needed for a first conversation.
Tell us where the estate is, what it includes and your timing. Cockatoo Estates and Quirk will review the details and help identify an appropriate next step. Families and professional referral partners can inquire here.
