You do not need a complete inventory to begin.

An estate sale consultation begins with what needs to be handled, where it is and what you need help deciding. Whether you are planning for a household, acting for an estate, downsizing or exploring a professional referral, a brief overview helps begin the conversation.

What Is Useful at the Start?

  • Your name and preferred way to be contacted.
  • The property’s city or ZIP code, without a full street address.
  • Your role and whether authority to make decisions is confirmed, pending or uncertain.
  • Broad categories and approximate volume: a whole household, selected rooms, a wardrobe or another collection.
  • Your timing, any fixed deadline and known access or building restrictions.
  • The help requested: estate-sale review, smaller-collection guidance, specialty-item research or a professional introduction.

Photographs can help but are optional at the initial inquiry. Choose a few representative views and remove private papers, people and identifying details from the frame. There is no need to provide bereavement details, financial records, identity documents or complete probate files.

I understand this inquiry does not reserve dates or create an engagement.

If you are introducing a client, begin with your own contact details and a general description. Obtain permission before sharing someone else’s information. Do not include confidential case material in an initial message.

What Happens Next?

The inquiry is reviewed for fit and any additional information needed. A conversation may lead to a further review or a proposed scope; it does not reserve dates, create a client relationship or confirm acceptance of an engagement. If another approach is more suitable, any outside introduction requires your permission and separate confirmation of that provider’s availability and terms.

You can explore how an estate sale is planned, focused consultations for smaller collections and questions to settle before engaging a company while considering your next step.
