The joke is in the contrast: an everyday banana, dressed for a much less ordinary occasion. This Mio Queena brooch pairs a curved yellow enamel base with three pale ivory peel sections, each edged in fine gold-tone metal. Above them, the exposed fruit is covered with closely set clear rhinestones rather than more enamel.
The result is graphic from a distance and more detailed up close. The smooth enamel gives the yellow and ivory their blocks of color, while the small round stones break the light across the upper section. Curled peels leave open spaces around the fruit, keeping the outline legible on a jacket or collar. A pin fastening runs along the reverse.
Put the banana somewhere slightly unexpected: high on a charcoal lapel, at the point of a denim collar or against a plain, substantial knit. The yellow reads clearly beside navy, black and white, while the rhinestones give it a little after-dark energy. One brooch is enough to change the mood of otherwise straightforward tailoring.
